Engineers Week
During Engineers Week, First Class explored the exciting world of engineering by learning about different types of bridges and their features. We discovered how engineers design bridges to be strong, stable and able to support heavy loads.
We looked at different types of bridges, including beam bridges, arch bridges and suspension bridges. We discussed how their shapes and structures help them to stay strong.
After learning about bridge design, the pupils worked together in small groups to design, plan and build their own bridges. Using a variety of materials, they carefully designed and constructed their bridges, thinking about how to make them stable and sturdy.
There was great teamwork, creativity and problem-solving as the pupils tested their ideas and improved their designs. Take a look at some of our creations below.
