JEP (Junior Entrepreneurs Programme)
Our 5th and 6th class pupils recently took part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme, where they had the exciting opportunity to become young entrepreneurs. From the very beginning, they worked together to come up with creative business ideas, carried out market research, and made important decisions as a team. After much deliberation and collaboration, the dragons decided upon the 'Positive Plants' idea.
The pupils were involved in every step of the process — designing, creating, marketing, and selling their product. Along the way, they developed valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and financial awareness.
You probably saw the flyers in your child's school bag and maybe you bought some Basil, Tomato or Sunflower starter kits. Maybe they are growing in your gardens or windows as you read. A big thank you if you did or if you helped with the market research and filled in our survey.
It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, creativity, and confidence grow throughout the programme. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and achievements! We are putting the finishing touches to the programme now and we will submit our project to the programme facilitators.
We would like to thank David and Stella from 'Pasta Fresca' in Sligo town for coming in to the school on their day off to talk with the pupils about how they created their own business. Starting off selling their fresh pasta and sauces in ATU market to opening their own store on Grattan Street here in Sligo. Their enthusiasm and passion for their product certainly inspired our pupils and maybe even ignited a spark for some future entrepreneurs.
