6th Class pupils had some opportunities to build some Lego projects using set of Lego Spike which we gratefully borrowed from Sligo Education Centre. Lego Spike is an excellent resource to develop STEM skills. The pupils were given the opportunity to build structure, machines and vehicles using the Lego Spike. The sets of Lego include sensors, lights, motors and gyroscopic tilt sensors which allow the pupils to make their items move, sense and illuminate. The engineered machines may be programmed using Scratch software and can be told to move when a sensor detects a colour or action. The pupils enjoyed working as engineers, programmers and designers during the activity.
