Maths Week in Senior Infants

26th Oct 2022

In Senior Infants, we just love maths and jumped at the opportunity to celebrate Maths Week!
Here’s an example of what we got up to ………

  • Each morning before lessons started, we played with the maths games. During Aistear, we got to explore the maths equipment – we made patterns with the links, numbers from our connecting cubes, matched numbers with counting objects and created
    our own sums!
  • We learnt about the number 7 in English through the story of ‘Snowwhite and the Seven
    Dwarfs’.
  • We even did maths during our P.E. lesson – we played a game where we had to count the
number of times teacher blew the whistle and get into groups of that number.
  • We now know how to count to ten and add numbers as Gaeilge – a haon agus a dó sin a trí!
  •  The highlight of our week was our outdoor maths trail. We searched high and low for 2-D
shapes. We made our own squares, rectangles, triangles and circles from the stones and
    twigs that we collected.

What a week! What a celebration of Maths! We love Maths!
