November Aistear in Junior Infants

3rd Dec 2025

This month in Aistear our theme was The Café, and the pupils absolutely loved exploring it through a variety of stations:

  • Role Play: The children enthusiastically took on the roles of chefs, waiters/waitresses, customers, and even café managers. They enjoyed acting out real-life scenarios and using lots of new vocabulary.
  • Small World: Using blocks and imaginative play, the pupils designed and built their very own cafés.
  • Art: As part of learning the rhyme “I’m a Little Teapot”, the children created their own teapots in art. They also painted beautiful owls using cotton wool and pegs.
  • Writing: The pupils practised their writing skills by recording food-related words in their Aistear copies, linking play with literacy.
  • Playdoh: Café-themed creations were a big hit at this station, as the children moulded different types of food using playdough.
  • Bee-Bots: There was great excitement as the pupils programmed the Bee-Bots and watched them move around the mats. This helped develop early coding skills in a playful way.
