Ogham Stones
14th May 2025
The pupils of 6th class were learning about Ogham stones in History Class. We learned that the Ogham language is an ancient form of written language which was used to mark things such as burial places or land ownership boundaries. The pupils created an Ogham Stone from Air Drying Clay. Pupils wrote their names in the Ogham language. The name starts at the bottom and works its way upwards. Have a look at the ogham stones they created. There are some ogham stones in Sligo close to Aughris Head. Have a look at the pupils' stones.
