Some students in Carbury School are participating in a meaningful community project, “Save Our Stories,” a Sligo Abbey Oral Heritage Project.
The aim of this project is to preserve local folklore and history by connecting students with older generations.
Pupils have been busy speaking with their grandparents, older relatives and members of the community to gather treasured stories from the past.
These stories will be displayed in Sligo Abbey during Heritage Week which takes place from 15th–23rd August 2026.
A digital version will also be created to ensure they are preserved for future generations.
