Trebuchet
30th Sep 2025
6th Class pupils constructed trebuchet catapults during Science Class. These were made using lollipop sticks, masking tape and hot glue guns. The pupils made a strong base by making a triangular pyramid. Then, two lollipop sticks were joined together to make the beam. We made a hinge using a straw. The trebuchet allowed us to explore Forces. We found out that when you stretch an elastic band it has stored potential energy and that this energy may be used to move objects. We also learned that the long beam on the trebuchet acted like a lever to increase the distance an object may be moved or in the case of a trebuchet, fired.
