3rd & 4th Class School Tour

15th Jun 2023

Yesterday, 3rd & 4th classes went on their school tour. We went to the Marble Arch Caves in County Fermanagh. It was a very fun day.

Firstly, we got on the bus at 9am. The journey on the bus was over an hour. When we got there, everyone sat down and had a quick snack. After about 10 minutes, the teachers called the names for each group.

After that, we walked into the centre and we went into a classroom. We learned about animals plants and trees. When we finished, we went outside to go mini-beast hunting. Liliana and I found a centipede, spider and an ant. We also saw the little bug hotel they had made and named ‘Bugingham palace’.

When everyone had collected and shown each other the bugs they had found, we went back to our tables and had lunch.

Once everyone had finished eating, we went back into the centre and did our last activity. It was going into the caves themselves. The drop in temperature was amazing. We saw a ‘mini Atlantis’ that had reflected onto the waters from the roof of the cave. Our guide also turned off all the lights in the cave to show us how it would have looked like when Edward-Alfred Martel (French) and Lister Jameson (Irish) journeyed through the cave and found it back in 1895.

Then, we got back into the bus and went to a park. After that, it was time to go back to school. The day in Fermanagh was fun and I enjoyed it.
