Compressed Air and Water Powered Rockets

Fifth Class pupils brought in a plastic drinks bottle to make a rocket in Science.  They designed and made fins from cardboard so that the rocket would fly on a straight trajectory.  The children made a nose cone from a plastic sheet to make the rocket more aerodynamic.  The rockets were half filled with water and then pumped with air from a bicycle pump to create energy in the form of compressed air.  When the force of compressed air was large enough it forced the cork out of the bottle and the water thrust the rocket into the air.  Have a look at some of the designs and pictures below.
