Punc 1 x 1 Project

22nd Sep 2017

Carbury is one of seven primary schools in County Sligo selected to participate in a unique outreach programme named Punc 1x1

Project Description

At its heart, PUNC 1x1 is an exhibition, however the format is very different to the usual model – as this is an exhibition which unfolds one painting at a time in each of the seven participating schools. Seven works from the Niland Collection have been selected, each of which will be on display in your school for one month (corridor opposite 2nd class) - giving pupils and teachers alike the opportunity to engage with art in their own environment in a slow and meaningful manner.  Following one month’s engagement with the art work, each piece moves on to the next school and is replaced by another work, until each of the seven paintings has been exhibited in all schools throughout the duration of the project (September 2017 to May 2018). The project will culminate in a final exhibition in June 2018, when all seven artworks will be exhibited at The Model.

The Artist

The role of the artist is to activate the project even further by facilitating a unique arts encounter with the children and teachers at our school. The artist will visit each of the seven schools throughout the duration of the project, from November 2017.
